- Definition : Narrative text is a text which contains about story (fiction/non
fiction/tales/folktales/fables/myths/epic) and its plot consists of climax of
the story (complication) then followed by the resolution.
A narrative text is a text amuse, entertain and deal with actual or vicarious experience in different ways. Narrative deal with problematic events which lead to a crisis or turning point of some kind, which in turn finds a resolution.

- Orientation : introducing the characters of the story, the time and the place, the story happen (who/what, when and where).
- Complication : a series of events in which the main character attempts to solve the problem.
- Resolution : the ending of the story containing the problem solution.
- Re- orientation : the conclusion.
- Social Function : To amuse, entertain and to deal with actual or various experience in different ways. Narratives deal with problematic events which lead to a crisis or turning point of some kind, which in turn finds 2 resolution.
- Language features
- Adjectives to describe nouns – heavy, frosty, transparent, grumpy
- Adverbs – to describe verbs – quickly, secretly, quietly, energetically, suddenly
- Similes – to compare one thing with another, using like or as … as – as bright as the moon, the kiss felt like a butterfly’s wings against her cheek.
